The Retreat House
Unique among California retreat houses, Saint Columba occupies a four-floor summerhouse mansion built in 1930, in the small town of Inverness. Nestled in the forested hills overlooking Tomales Bay, this center for worship offers Individual Retreats and/or Group Retreats, accommodating as many as 32 guests. We present a full kitchen, dining and meeting areas, along with several private, semi-private and dorm rooms for overnight lodging—viewable in our Photo Galleries. Enclosed among our wooded hills is an outdoor Stations of the Cross and an outdoor Chapel having a stone cross—typical Irish and Scottish Celtic symbols. Complimenting the rustic country decor of the Retreat House are the redwood open-beam ceilings, floors and paneling of the Sanctuary and Chapel. The Retreat House is operated by the Saint Columba Parish Church.
Adjacent to the Point Reyes National Seashore, we are surrounded by the abundant beauty and glory of God's creation. "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day pours forth speech, and night after night they display knowledge. | Nearby on the peninsula, herds of wild elk are often seen grazing in the open fields—truly an unexpected wonder on the California coast. These California Tule elk once roamed in large herds over the grassy uplands of the Point Reyes peninsula before being hunted to near extinction. By 1873, there were only one pair left in California. Tule elk now number around 2,500 statewide. The present Point Reyes population of over 300 elk grew from a herd of only 10, introduced in 1978. |

Private Individual RetreatsAre you in need of time alone with God in solitude and silence? Schedule a Private Individual Retreat by calling the St. Columba office at (415) 669-1039, or apply for your reservation through our Reservation Form. Our Online Calendar shows when Retreats are scheduled. We have several sized rooms available, and can find the right lodging for you. Cost: Individual Retreats are self-catered. You must bring your own food and you may use our kitchen facilities. Check in time is 4:00 p.m. Individual retreats of more than 4 days must be arranged with Father Thomas in advance. Once your retreat request has been received, the retreat coordinator will send a confirmation for the date(s) you have requested, or provide you with open dates that are available. After your reservation has been confirmed, you will need to send in a deposit to secure the date of your retreat. When mailing your deposit, be sure to indicate the Retreat for which you are registering—including the date and duration. Day RetreatsWe also offer Day Retreats for both Private Individual Retreats and Independent Group Retreats. Cost: Day Retreats are self-catered. You must bring your own food and you may use our kitchen facilities.

Independent Group RetreatsTo schedule a Group Retreat, please call the St. Columba office at (415) 669-1039, or apply for your reservation through our Reservation Form. Our Online Calendar shows when Retreats are scheduled. We have several various sized rooms for lodging, along with a range of meeting rooms to accommodate your Retreat. Group Retreats have a 10 person minimum. Cost: Meal Cost: Friday Night Only—Please Note: Rates are based on 4:00 p.m. check in and 12:00 noon check out. If your group is staying Friday night only and wishes to stay past 12 noon on Saturday, please add an additional $15.00 per person. Departures must be by 4:00 p.m. Our housekeeper will arrive early in the day to clean rooms for Saturday night guests. Check in time is 4:00 p.m. Once your retreat request has been received, the retreat coordinator will send a confirmation for the date(s) you have requested, or provide you with open dates that are available. After your reservation has been confirmed, you will need to send in a deposit to secure the date of your retreat. When mailing your deposit, be sure to indicate the Retreat for which you are registering—including the date and duration. Reservation DepositTo reserve a space for any Individual Retreat, Independent Group Retreat, or a St. Columba Hosted Retreat offered at St. Columba Retreat House, first, either phone the St. Columba office at (415) 669-1039, or apply for your reservation online. Once your retreat request has been received, the retreat coordinator will send a confirmation for the date(s) you have requested, or provide you with open dates that are available. After your reservation has been confirmed, you will need to send in a deposit to secure the date of your retreat. Then send a $25.00 deposit payable to "St. Columba Church." Independent Group Retreats require a $400.00 deposit, and a minimum of 10 persons. St. Columba Group RetreatsSt. Columba Retreat House hosts three Retreats per year: a Spring Retreat; a June Retreat and a Fall Retreat. These are open to individuals and groups for attendance.
